Описание : What is Romanticism? “Romanticism” or “romanticisms”? Romanticism and/v/s Enlightenment. The Enlightenment and the “Romantic Period” -The Romantic period is usually taken to extend approximately from the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1789 – or alternatively, from the publication of [Wordsworth and Coleridge’s] Lyrical Ballads in 1798 – through the first three decades of the nineteenth century’ (Abrams 1993: 125). Intellectually it marked a violent reaction to the Enlightenment. Politically it was inspired by the revolutions in America and France . . . . Emotionally it expressed an extreme assertion of the self and the value of individual experience .
